Team RWB Hosts “Flag Run”

FlagOn the morning of March 1, 2014, 60 runners gathered at the Courtyard Marriot in Killeen, Texas to participate in a 5k “flag run” that took place the day before many of the runners were scheduled to participate in the Army Marathon.  The Saturday morning run, in which the participants wore red, white and blue and carried American flags, was organized by the Killeen chapter of Team Red, White and Blue, a national nonprofit organization that helps veterans engage with their communities through physical activity and athletics.

Team RWB tries to help veterans find a sense of camaraderie within their communities.  Georgina Beihl, the regional director for Team RWB’s South Central Region said Team RWB likes to define the networks they build as “a community of communities.”  All someone has to do to be a part of Team RWB at an event is wear the team’s logo, an eagle.

The Killeen chapter of Team RWB is just one of 65 chapters around the nation.  Team RWB chapters host and attend events with the hopes of allowing members to meet and connect with one another and to raise general awareness for Team Red, White and Blue.
